Race #8 - Tony Bettenhausen 200
The CART Series made their 8th stop of 1980 at the Milwaukee Mile, in West Allis, Wisconsin, for Tony Bettenhausen 200.
Bobby Unser led the field to the green flag for the third race in a row as for the second time in 1980 drivers raced at the Milwaukee Mile. Unser would lead early before points leader Johnny Rutherford would have his turn at the lead. Hot conditions led to several drivers dropping out to due mechanical issues as Rick Mears, the 1979 CART Series Champion would work his way into the lead around the first half of the race. As no cautions would fly during the last hundred laps, Mears put on a great showing, battling with Bobby Unser for much of the last half of the event, and would go on to score his first win of 1980.

Race #9 - California 500
The CART Series made their 9th stop of 1980 at the Ontario Motor Speedway, in Ontario, California, for the California 500.
Bobby Unser led the field to the Green as for the fourth race in a row as the two and half mile track was a demolition derby as ten cautions would fly while hot temperatures led to six drivers dropping out due to mechanical problems. Unser would dominate the day, losing the lead only during the last round of pit stops, before taking the lead back under caution. Back out front, Unser's lead grew lap-by-lap and would go on to lead all but three laps to score his third win of 1980.

Race #10 - Gould Grand Prix
The CART Series made their 10th stop of 1980 at the Michigan International Speedway, in Brooklyn, Michigan, for the Gould Grand Prix.
Al Unser led the field to the Green as the fans in attendance were given a great show as the battle for the lead was a race long duel between Al and Danny Ongais as both drivers combined would lead 62 of the 75 laps, but during the final ten laps, their battle was slowed as they caught lap traffic, allowing for Al's brother Bobby to cut down a five second lead, and with three laps to go, Bobby passed his brother for the lead. As Danny Ongais passed Al on the last lap, Bobby had nothing stopping him, as he would go on to score his 5th CART Series win, and his fourth of 1980.

Race #11 - Primera Copa Mexico 150
The CART Series made their 11th stop of 1980 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, in Mexico City, Mexico, for the inaugural Primera Copa Mexico 150.
Al Unser led the field to the Green for the second race in a row as drivers raced for the first time outside of the United States and at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as Unser would pick up his dominating performance from Michigan as he would once again show his talents as he was able to keep all challengers behind him for the first thirty laps before Tom Sneva would finally give the race it's first lead change. A few laps later the second and final caution would come out, allowing drivers to pit, now able to make it the rest of the way without making anymore pit stops.
With the green back out, Sneva quickly began to build up a lead, growing to three seconds, as Sneva would hang on and would score his first win in over a year. Meanwhile, finishing in 12th, Johnny Rutherford scored enough points to lock up the championship with one race to go.

Race #12 - Miller High Life 150
The CART Series made their 12th and final stop of 1980 at Phoenix International Raceway, in Avondale, Arizona, for the Miller High Life 150.
Mario Andretti led the field to the Green as Andretti quickly began to build up a huge lead as a lack of cautions resulted in drivers spreading out all over the track as drivers had only one chance to make changes to their cars. During the round of pit stops, Andretti would lose the lead for one lap to Dennis Firestone before taking it back. Andretti would lap nearly the full field until the lone caution came out with five laps to go, setting up a three lap shootout. Andretti got a great restart, pulling away and for the second year the winner at Phoenix led all but one lap as Andretti scored his first career CART Series win.
