Race #1
The NASCAR Strictly Stock Series made their 1st stop of 1949 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Speedway.
A crowd of 13,000 fans were in attendance to see history as the first ever NASCAR Strictly Stock Series race was held on June 19th, 1949 at the dirt track in Charlotte. Curtis Turner will forever be remembered as the guy who led the field to the green, but it was Jimmie Lewallen who will go into the history books as the first ever lap leader. A tough dirt surface led to drivers having almost no grip at all as a total of ten cautions would fly while eight drivers dropped out due to mechanical problems.
Archie Smith would take the lead early during a round of pit stops and thanks to the rash of cautions he was able to keep his lead but slowly working on his car was Jim Roper. Having made his final stop, Roper made his move for the lead with thirty nine laps to go and thanks to three more late cautions, Roper was able to defend his lead as a five lap shootout led to Red Byron to drive up from fifth spot but time ran out as Roper scored the monumental and historic win.

With only a forty lap distance, some drivers pitted on lap ten while others waited until ten laps to go as Littlejohn pitted with ten to go handing the lead back to Byron. Bob Flock led a field of twenty eight drivers to the green as most people were hoping for yet another classic race, but this time were disappointed as all drivers gave each other room for the most part as only one caution would fly, resulting in long green flag runs and only gave drivers two chances to make changes to their cars to try and stay in contact with the leaders.

Race #7
The NASCAR Strictly Stock Series made their 7th stop of 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Heidelberg Raceway.
Sara Christian led the field to the green for the second time in her career but just like with her first pole, she wouldn't lead the first lap as Glenn Dunaway would take the lead going down the Backstretch and he would lead the first two laps before Lee Petty would take the lead. Having not yet scored a win, Petty would be on defense as only one caution would fly during the entire race, allowing drivers only one chance at Petty. However even during pit stops Petty held a commanding lead and would go on to score his first ever NASCAR sanctioned win.
Other Noticeables: Lee Petty scored his 1st win of the year, Petty led 1 time for 198 laps, which were the final 198 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the NASCAR Strictly Stock Series in his 5th start, John Wright(6th), Joe Merola(7th), Don Rogala(9th), Clarence Burris(10th), Lloyd Moore(12th), Curt Foss(13th), Nick Garin(19th), Ralph Zrimsek(21st), John Riggi(22nd) and Skip Lewis(23rd) made their NASCAR Strictly Stock Series debuts, Red Byron, who was not entered in this event, kept his points lead, leading Bill Blair by 120 points
Heading into the final race of the season, mathematically three drivers still have a shot of winning the championship 1.22-Red Byron: 770 points 2.44&46&2-Bill Blair-120 points 3.7&14-Bob Flock-140 points
