Before NASCAR headed to their 9th race of the season at Charlotte, officials have stripped Lee Petty, who is currently 2nd in points, of all 724 points. Petty had competed in a nonsanctioned stock car race and for doing so NASCAR decided to strip all of his points for failing to compete within NASCAR sanctioning boundaries.

The field has finished qualifying for the 9th race of the season at the Charlotte Speedway.

Curtis Turner won the pole with a time of 17.901 seconds, beating Chuck Mahoney by 0.064 seconds.

Race #9

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 9th stop of 1950 in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Speedway.

A pack crowd of 11,000 fans were in attendance as for the third time in series history, drivers raced at the half mile dirt track in Charlotte. Point leader Curtis Turner led the field to the green flag as his closest challenging in points battle, Lee Petty, was dealt a huge blow earlier in the week as NASCAR officials stripped Petty of all championship points, making Bill Rexford Turner's closest challenger in points. On race day however, Turner once again proved he was the best NASCAR driver in the brief two year history of the Grand National Division, jumping out to a big lead as Turner was untouchable despite the fact nine cautions slowed the race.

Turner was never really changed for the lead as soon as the green came back out, he just drove off again and when a caution came out with one to go ending the race under caution, Turner was far out ahead it didn't matter, as Turner scored his fourth win of 1950.

Race #10

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 10th stop of 1950 in Hillsborough, North Carolina at the Occoneechee Speedway.

A pack crowd of 10,000 fans were in attendance as the NASCAR Grand National Series raced for the second time in Hillsboro North Carolina, points leader Curtis Turner picked up right where he left off at Charlotte, by leading the first twenty five laps, only losing the lead when choosing to make an early pit stop, handing the lead over to Gene Austin. Austin would lose the lead briefly to Bill Rexford before Lyle Scott took over for a few laps before Turner had worked his way back into the lead. Turner built up a near ten second lead before making another pit stop, handing the lead back to Scott, who kept the lead until he made his final stop as well. Turner reclaimed the lead and his margin grew even more over the final seventeen laps, going on to lead all but twenty two laps for his fifth win of 1950 and third in a row.

Race #11

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 11th stop of 1950 in Dayton, Ohio at the Dayton Speedway.

A crowd of 12,000 fans were in attendance as the NASCAR Grand National Series raced for the second time in Dayton, Ohio at the half mile paved track. Championship contender Bill Rexford led the field to the green flag and would lead the first lap before Red Harvey took over. A rash of cautions in the first hundred laps kept the drivers close and the battle for the lead intense, but soon after the eighth caution, things seemed to settle down as drivers drove around the track giving each other room.

Ray Duhigg, who finished last in his series debut just seven days earlier, took the lead with sixty six laps to go, and despite a late caution coming out with ten laps to go, Duhigg was able to hold on and score a upset win.

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 12th stop of 1950 in Hamburg, New York at the Hamburg Speedway.

A crowd of 8,363 fans were in attendance as Frank Mundy led the field to the green flag and would lead for much of the first half of the event before he pitted, Fireball Roberts would then take over himself and would lead for around the same time as Mundy did as several cautions around the halfway mark handed the lead to points leader Curtis Turner, and from that point on, much like it had been a challenge all year, drivers had problems keeping up with Turner, even when a caution with less then ten laps to go, no one had anything for Turner, who would score his sixth win of 1950.

Race #13 - Southern 500

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 13th stop of 1950 in Darlington, South Carolina at the Darlington Raceway for the inaugural Southern 500.

A sellout crowd of 25,000 fans were in attendance as Chuck Mahoney led the field to the green flag for the second race in a row as NASCAR held it's biggest race ever, the first ever fie hundred mile event in the two year history, but it was Cotton Owens who would lead the first ever lap at the track before Mahoney took the lead back on the fifth lap as he pulled away from his closest challengers, but moving up from a 43rd starting spot, Johnny Mantz had worked his way through the field and on the 50th Lap Mantz passed Mahoney for the lead and Mantz then set sail, lapping the field thirteen laps to score the biggest margin of victory in series history and scored the historic win.

Race #14

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 14th stop of 1950 in Langhorne, Philadelphia at the Langhorne Speedway.

A crowd of 20,000 fans were in attendance as NASCAR's highest division raced for only the third time ever at the track that merely a oval with no straighaways, nicknamed as the The Big Left Turn. Pepper Cunningham would lead the first to the green and pulled out a big lead early, losing the lead during a round of pit stops before Fonty Flock took over and he began to show his talents, lapping up tenth place when the lone caution had come out. When the green waved again, Flock pulled away once again while his challengers were stuck in lap traffic, allowing for Flock to drive on uncontested for his second win of his career.

Race #15 - Wilkes 200

The NASCAR Grand National Series made their 15th stop of 1950 in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina at the North Wilkesboro Speedway for the Wilkes 200.

A crowd of 7,000 fans were in attendance as NASCAR raced for only the second time ever at the 0.625 mile short track as Leon Sales led the field to the green but it was Jimmy Thompson who would lead the first laps before Sales retook the lead and would lead the first quarter of the race before Gayle Warren took the lead and would dominate for most of the day, leading 94 of 200 laps, but a late race caution allowed for his challengers to close in. Ewell Weddle, who was making his debut, led briefly earlier in the race, but retook the lead with forty four laps and would go on to score a two second win.
