Race #25 - Harvest 150
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series trekked northward to Virginia the site of the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway. With this racing season coming to a close, six drivers still have a mathematical of being the first ever champion, but only two stand out the most.
Sam Ard, in his Thomas Brothers Country Ham sponsored Oldsmobile, owned by Howard Thomas, surprised very few when he won his seventh pole of the year and led the field to the green and would lead the event's first 14 laps before championship rival Jack Ingram would pass him for the lead. However five laps later, with a two second lead, Ingram's car began to smoke as the Clutch broke in his car, causing him to stop on track, bringing out the second caution, and handing the lead back to Ard.
Ard would then swap the lead several times with Tommy Houston as well as Butch Lindley over the next 100 laps, but would always take it back sooner or later until his car hit the wall in Turn 4, allowing Butch Lindley to take the lead on Lap 120. Lindley would pull away to a 13 second lead until the event's final caution came out for Bobby Cox's spin on the frontstretch on Lap 140. While under the caution the unthinkable happened; Lindley's Camshaft broke, forcing him to drive to the garage and handing the lead back to Ard who was able to hold off Morgan Shepherd and Snookie Farmer to score his fourth win of 1982!
Other Noticeables: Sam Ard won his 4th career NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series win, Ard led 5 times for 90 laps, including the final 7 laps, Ray Hendrick, who finished 8th, competed in his last ever race, having to sit out as he prepares to fight for his life against cancer, Sam Ard, who finished 1st, kept his points lead, now 125 points over Tommy Houston,

Race #26 - Autumn 150
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series stayed in Virginia for the second week in a row, the site of the Martinsville Speedway. With only four races to go, every position lost and gained could win you the title.
Tommy Houston led the field to the Green Flag for the first time in his career and right off began to pull away from the field as drivers took a surprising ease at Martinsville, while most races would be a wreckfest, this one showed drivers giving room and respect to each other.
However the 78 miles of racing began taking it's effect on cars as Phil Parsons found out when he broke his Camshaft, ending what would be his championship dreams. One lap later Steve Lawrence would break a Header and would join Parsons in at garage and finally Kyle Petty, making his second start, would break his Gearbox.
Houston would dominate leading the first 95 laps before Sam Ard drove around him and would lead until the lone caution would come out, a controversial one on Lap 117 as NASCAR declared there was oil on the track but there was none. The green would come out as Houston would quickly pass Ard and pulled away for the remaining 25 laps to score the win and gained some ground on championship leader Ard.
Other Noticeables: Tommy Houston won his 4th career NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series win, Houston led 2 times for 121 laps, including the final 25 laps, Bobby Labonte, who finished 23rd(8 laps down), made his NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series debut, Sam Ard, who finished 4th, kept his points lead, now 105 points over Tommy Houston,

Race #27 - Miller Time 300
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series moved south to North Carolina, the site of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. With only three races to go, only three drivers still have a chance of being the first champion.
Sam Ard led the field to the Green Flag for the eighth time this year, but Darrell Waltrip would spoil his dream of leading and would lead the event's first 15 laps.
However, after swapping the lead with rival Bobby Allison, Waltrip was tapped and spun and then hit in the driver's door by Sam Ard causing a huge wreck that knocked Waltrip out of the lead and Ard almost losing his championship lead."He should be parked by NASCAR."an angry Waltip said after he was released from the care center"He wrecked me when he realised I had a faster car."
Meanwhile, Allison would lose the lead to Bosco Lowe who would survive as several championship contender's would, Ellis would be caught up in a wreck, Houston would blow an Engine with almost a 100 laps to go, but Jack Ingram would survive the day and gained huge ground on Ard with two races to go.
Bosco Lowe would pull away from the field, lapping all but one driver to score an unlikely win at Charlotte!
Other Noticeables: Bosco Lowe won his 1st career NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series win, Lowe led 3 times for 85 laps, including the final 25 laps, Sam Ard, who finished 39th, kept his points lead, now 35 points over Jack Ingram,

The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series stayed North Carolina for the second week in a row, the site of the Hickory Speedway. With only two races to go, the battle for the championship is heating up as it appears it will be between Sam Ard, Jack Ingram and Tommy Houston to see who will be the first champion.
Jack Ingram led the field to the Green Flag for the seventh time this year and would lead the event's first three laps before giving up the lead. During the day, much of the 10,000 fans in attendance focus was on the top championship contender's to see who would stumble first.

Race #29 - Cardinal 250
The NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series moved north to Virginia, the site of the Martinsville Speedway. The final event of the 1982 season has finally arrived as three drivers still have a chance of winning the championship, Jack Ingram, Sam Ard and Tommy Houston.
Ronnie Silver led the field to the green flag but it was Mike Porter leading the first lap as Tommy Ellis, a former championship contender's season continued to get worse, breaking a Camshaft early.
All day long most of the 20,000 in the stands watched carefully on Ingram, Ard and Houston. Houston's car never seemed to be right, fading fast and falling several laps down as Ingram suffered too but always remained in view of the championship while Ard led early.
The battle for the lead was also raging on as the laps counted down, Bob Shreeves found himself in the lead and would score the win after a late caution.
As the field crossed the line under caution, over the track speakers and in the ears of the drivers, NASCAR gave the official announcement "The 1982 NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series champion is Jack Ingram." As Ingram crew cheered, Sam Ard's hung their heads in disappointment, coming so close and yet so far.
Other Noticeables: Bob Shreeves won his 1st career NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series win, Shreeves led 1 time for 81 laps, including the final 81 laps, Jack Ingram, who finished 23rd, became the first ever NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series champion, winning the championship by 12 points over Sam Ard,
