Race #17 of 24 was the Fas Mart Truck Shootout at the Richmond International Raceway.
Mark Martin led the field to the green on a cloudy night in Richmond, Virginia as threats of rain would be a factor in the race due to Hurricane Fran. Ron Hornaday Jr. would lead the event's first 18 laps as trouble began just as the field entered the backstretch as Kenny Wallace would spin out.
The caution flag would fly 13 times, the same amount of times last year, as championship leader Mike Skinner would break a Camshaft early and put his championship lead in trouble. As the trucks were warned early, the event would end around the 120 mark, drivers were fast to try and make their way through the field and to the lead.
Randy Renfrow would surprise alot of people leading early before Joe Ruttman found himself leading for only the fourth time this year and was having a good run before old veteran Harry Gant knew it was one of his best chances for a win. He drove under Ruttman in Turn 3 and began to pull away. However after a late caution that stacked the field up, it would be a five lap shootout. Ruttman would spin the tires on the restart causing drivers to make it four wide going into Turn 1, making Gant smile as he pulled away just alittle.
Darrell Waltrip would make an incredible dive to pass Ruttman, Rezendes and Hensley for second and chased after Gant, he knew this was his chance as well to win, the laps ticked down and Waltrip got closer before finally his time ran out, Waltrip could only get up to Gant's bumper as Harry Gant scored a very popular win.
Other Noticeables: Harry Gant won his 1st race of the year, Gant scored his 1st career Craftsman Truck Series win in his 6th start, Gant led 1 time for 52 laps, including the final 52 laps, Mark Martin(12th), Kevin Grubb(30th) and Wayne Grubb(35th), all made their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debuts, Skinner, who finished 33rd, kept his points lead, now 39 over Dave Rezendes

Race #18 of 24 was the Pennzoil / VIP Tripleheader at the New Hampshire International Speedway.
Mike Bliss led the field to the green on a sunny day in Loudon, New Hampshire but it was Steve Park leading the first three laps before handing the lead over to Bobby Gill. Gill would lead to the first caution before problems on his truck forced him to pit. That handed the lead over to Bliss who lead briefly before Ernie Irvan made his way to the lead.
The crowd roared as Irvan led but it was brief as Park found his way back in the lead and began to lap the field quickly, while at the same time, Ron Hornaday Jr. was slowly working his way through traffic and finally catching Park on Lap 78 and he too began to pull away from the field.
Then under the last pitstops, Hornaday collided with Park causing damage to his truck and allowing Bill Sedgwick to take the lead and to what looked like a win, however Bryan Reffner had been waiting in the Top 5 all day and finally after a battle with Sedgwick and a late caution that extended the race to 210 laps, Reffner won for the first time in his career.
Other Noticeables: Bryan Reffner won his 1st race of the year, Reffner scored his 1st career Craftsman Truck Series win in his 18th start, Reffner led 2 times for 19 laps, including the final 9 laps, Ken Bouchard(16th) made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut, Bryan Reffner, who finished 1st, became the new points leader, leading by 2 points over Rich Bickle

Race #20 of 24 was the Lowe's 250 at the North Wilkesboro Speedway.
The race for the championship is heating up, with only four races to go, drivers could not afford to mess up.
Joe Ruttman led the field to the green on a sunny day in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, but it was Butch Miller leading the event's first three laps.
Much of the 250 laps was run behind the pace truck as 22 cautions would force 110 laps to be run under caution. The early part of the race was dominated by Jack Sprague who looked to be going for yet another win. However late in the race, his truck faded as Kenny Wallace, making a rare stop in the truck series, was working his way up and took the lead with alittle over 100 laps to go. Wallace would never be challenged and would score an unlikely win.

As the laps counted down, Rezendes lead grew more and more, while drivers dropped out, in fact all DNF's in the event was from some sort of problem with the truck and not a wreck.
