Race #22 - Molson 100
The NASCAR North Tour Series made their 22nd stop of 1979 in Mont Laurier, Quebec, Canada at Autodrome Mont-Laurier, for the Molson 100.
Robbie Crouch led the field to the green but it would be Hector Leclair who would get a strong run going into Turn 1 who would lead the first lap. With his championship rival Beaver Dragon starting in the middle of the pack, Leclair knew he needed to take advantage and get the best possible finish that his Nova could give him as he remained in the lead until Jamie Aube would pass him on Lap 26, just two laps before the lone caution of the day would come out, resulting in everyone making pit stops.
Crouch would remain in the lead as Leclair would drop to fifth while Beaver Dragon would come out tenth. When the green came back out, Aube quickly began to pull away from the field while Dragon began to work his way up, by the halfway mark, Dragon had worked his way past his championship rival and with twenty to go he passed Andy Isbister for second place and was nearly two seconds behind leader Jamie Aube.
