Race #1
The IROC Series made their 1st stop of 1986 at the Daytona International Speedway, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
NASCAR star Harry Gant led the field to the Green Flag but it was FISA star Klaus Ludwig who would lead the first last as the fans in attendance were given a great show by all the drivers in the field as battles for the lead and position happened every lap during the first ten laps before Al Unser took the lead and began to dominate the day. Despite two cautions flying during the race, no one retired from the race, but several were damaged and limped around the track at half speed. Unser would lead until with nine to go before the battle for the lead was on, swapping five times in the last ten laps as FISA star Jochen Mass made the right move, taking the lead on the last lap and hung on for his first career IROC Series win.

Race #2
The IROC Series made their 2nd stop of 1986 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio.
For the second time in series history, drivers raced at the 2.400 mile road course, Rick Mears would lead the field to the Green Flag, but it would be NASCAR star Harry Gant, who would get a run going into Turn 1, who lead the first lap while moving up from his 6th starting spot was Al Unser Jr. as he would quickly pass everyone in his way, before passing Gant for the lead on Lap 3. Once in the lead, Unser was never challenged, pulling away as he would score his first IROC Series win.

Al Unser Jr. scored his 1st win of the year,
Unser Jr. led 1 time for 27 laps, which were the final 27 laps,
It was the 1st win of his career in the IROC Series in his 2nd start,

The IROC Series made their 3rd stop of 1986 at the Alabama International Motor Speedway, in Talladega, Alabama.
For only the second time in IROC Series history, drivers raced at the Alabama International Motor Speedway, Cale Yarborough would lead the field to the Green Flag and quickly used his past experience at the track as he kept all challengers behind him as battles for position happened for every spot expect for the lead as Yarborough was looking for redemption as two years earlier, Yarborough was passed by Darrell Waltrip for the lead, this time however Yarborough was never challenged as he easily scored the win.
Other Noticeables:
Cale Yarborough scored his 1st win of the year,
Yarborough led 1 time for 38 laps, which was every single lap,
It was the 4th win of his career in the IROC Series in his since 1984 at Burke Lakefront; 8 races ago,

The IROC Series made their 4th and final stop of 1986 at the Watkins Glen International, in Watkins Glen, New York.
For the first time in IROC Series history, drivers raced at the Watkins Glen International, Rick Mears would lead the field to the Green Flag but it was Mid-Ohio race winner Bobby Rahal who would lead the first lap before NASCAR star Darrell Waltrip took over the lead. Waltrip and Rahal would pull away from the rest of the field as Rahal tried everything he could to get around Waltrip but it wasn't enough as Waltrip's lead grew over the final ten laps to over three seconds as Waltrip scored his second career IROC Series win. Finishing in 5th was Al Unser Jr., scoring just enough points to become the 1986 IROC Series Champion, winning the title by 2 points over Waltrip.
