The Pep Boys Indy Racing League made their 2nd stop of 1998 at the Phoenix International Raceway, in Avondale, Arizona, for the Dura Lube 200.

The Pep Boys Indy Racing League made their 3rd stop of 1998 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in Speedway, Indiana, for the Indianapolis 500.
Kenny Brack led the field to the green and would lead the first lap in front of a sold out crowd at the track know as "The Brickyard" as just like previous events, cautions and lead changes would be the main story of the day as ten cautions would fly during the two hundred lap event and twenty lead changes. Steve Knapp, who was making his debut, took command on Lap 2 and from that point on he was the driver to beat, losing the lead during pit stops only to take it back a few laps later as he would lose the lead late to Robby Unser before taking the lead back and would never be challenged again as he would score a dominating win by leading 134 of the 200 laps.

Race #4 - True Value 500
The Pep Boys Indy Racing League made their 4th stop of 1998 at the Texas Motor Speedway, in Fort Worth, Texas, for the True Value 500.
Scott Sharp led the field to the green and would lead the first six laps before he was passed by defending race winner Billy Boat. Picking up right where he left off one year prior, Boat was untouchable was out front and pulled to nearly a ten second lead a one point, but just after the night's second caution came out, Boat's car began to smoke as the driver's Ignition was broke, and his shot of winning back-to-back Texas races was over. Scott Goodyear would lead briefly as would Robby Unser, but Kenny Brack took the lead on Lap 104 and aside from brief challenges by Goodyear and losing the lead on pit stops to Goodyear who appeared on his way to victory, but with thirteen laps to go, Brack took the lead for the final time and held on for his first career win in his 11th start.

The Pep Boys Indy Racing League made their 5th stop of 1998 at the New Hampshire International Speedway, in Loudon, New Hampshire, for the New England 200.
Scott Goodyear led the field to the green as he would lead the first two laps before point leader Tony Stewart took the lead as he would lead for thirty laps before he was passed by Arie Luyendyk. Once in the lead, Luyendyk would build up a huge lead as a caution free race allowed drivers only one chance at trying to make adjustments, but it would be for not as Luyendyk would regain the lead after the pit stops and would drive on unchallenged as he scored his first career Indy Racing League win in his 18th career start.

Race #6 - Pep Boys 400K
The Pep Boys Indy Racing League made their 6th stop of 1998 at the Dover Downs International Speedway, in Dover, Delaware, for the Pep Boys 400K.
Sam Schmidt led the field to the green but it was Scott Sharp who would lead the first ever lap at the track in series history before Schmidt would take the lead back on Lap 2 before losing it to Marco Greco who would lead briefly before Davey Hamilton took over the top spot. Once in the lead, Hamilton showed the skills that many knew he had as he would dominate much of the race, leading 170 of the 248 laps as he would build up a lead of nearly ten seconds but a late race caution closed up the field to him.
With the green back out, Hamilton tried to pull away again but Greco was right behind him, passing Hamilton with 46 laps to go as he would be the one to build up a ten second lead, and going on to score the win.

Race #7 - Visionaire 500
The Pep Boys Indy Racing League made their 7th stop of 1998 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, in Concord, North Carolina, for the Visionaire 500.
Stevie Reeves led the field to the green but it was Scott Goodyear who would get a run on the high side, passing Reeves in Turn 2, who would lead the first lap as for only the second time in series history, drivers raced at Charlotte. Goodyear would lead the first fifty eight laps until he was caught up in the first caution, handing the lead over to Kenny Brack, who lost the lead briefly on Lap 66 before regaining it on Lap 67. From that point on, Brack was unstoppable, keeping all challengers behind him for the remaining laps, and went on to score a dominating win.
