Race #4 - Budweiser Cleveland 500The CART Series made their 4th stop of 1983 at the Burke Lakefront Airport, in Cleveland, Ohio, for the Budweiser Cleveland 500.
Al Unser led the field to the Green Flag as for the second year in a row the CART Series returned to the 2.480 mile road course that was held on the Cleveland airport as the fans in attendance would be given a good showing by the drivers, but also saw almost half of the race ran behind the pace car, with twenty cautions flying during the event, allowing for multiple drivers to find themselves in the lead, with no driver truly dominating the race until the last half when Rick Mears found himself in the lead and would drive away over the final quarter of the race, scoring his first win in 1983.
