Race #18 - Goody's 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 18th stop of the 1984 season in Hickory, North Carolina, the site of the Hickory Motor Speedway for the Goody's 200.
Championship contender Tommy Houston led the field to the Green Flag for the second race in a row as he was looking to win back-to-back races after leading every single lap two weeks earlier at Orange County. However unlike at Orange County, Houston's lead would last only one lap before Brad Teague would power his way into the lead and he began to pull away just like Houston had done at Orange County. Just like at Orange County drivers would have only one chance to tune their cars and it was Jack Ingram who would make a gamble.
With Ingram win less so far in 1984, his team decided to make a risky gamble, deciding to make only a two tire stop while others took four. With Tommy Houston's team struggling and losing a lap late, Ingram rode around the track at half speed, saving his tires as a late caution with less then thirty to go set up a shootout. Ingram got a great jump on the restart and was able to pull away while the other drivers were stuck in lap traffic and Ingram drove to his first win of 1984.
Other Noticeables: Jack Ingram scored his 1st win of the year, Ingram led 1 time for 80 laps, including the final 80 laps, It was the 8th win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since 1983 also at Hickory; 20 races ago, Sam Ard, who finished 2nd, kept his points lead, leading Tommy Houston by 174 points

Race #19 - Kroger 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 19th stop of the 1984 season in Clermont, Indiana, the site of the Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Kroger 200.
Jimmy Lawson led the field to the Green Flag but it would be Geoffrey Bodine who would pass Lawson in Turn 1 and would lead the first 13 laps before Morgan Shepherd would take over. With Shepherd in the lead, he began to pull away from everyone else and would keep the lead through the lone pit stops of the day. One driver that needed pit stops was Dale Jarrett, whose's crew finally hit the right adjustment and just before the first caution would come out, Jarrett would pass Shepherd for the lead.
Once Jarrett was in the lead there was no stopping him, as he used lap traffic to slow Shepherd down and allow Jarrett to pull away, as Jarrett easily scored his second win of the year.
Other Noticeables: Dale Jarrett scored his 2nd win of the year, Jarrett led 1 time for 64 laps, including the final 64 laps, It was the 7th win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since Langley; 11 races ago, Sam Ard, who finished 6th, kept his points lead, leading Tommy Houston by 212 points

Race #20 - Busch 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 20th stop of the 1984 season in Hampton, Virginia, the site of the Langley Speedway for the Busch 200.
Robert Ingram led the field to the Green Flag for the first time in his career and would lead the first 18 laps as the 0.395 short track proved to once again be a calm race for the twenty one drivers. An early caution allowed teams to pit early and adjust their cars while others chose to stay out for track position. One driver who took advantage of that was Bubba Adams, who in only his seventh start, was able to hold off well known names for almost sixty laps before veteran Jack Ingram took the lead.
Jack Ingram was driving not for himself this race but Ronnie Silver and was looking to prove Silver had chosen well as Ingram would lose the lead briefly during the last round of pit stops and would hold off Eddie Falk for his second win in the last three races.

In the first thirty laps the lead changed hand five times within the first thirty laps before Bob Shreeves took over and pulled away from everyone and appeared on his way to the win before points leader Sam Ard took over just after the one hundred lap.

Race #22 - Free 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 22nd stop of the 1984 season in Bristol, Tennessee, the site of the Bristol International Speedway for the Free 200.
Dale Jarrett led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first two laps as twenty nine drivers were on hand to race at the 0.533 mile short track as the typical Bristol was key, wrecks, lead changes and broken dreams. Ten cautions would fly over the course of the two hundred laps as Alan Kulwicki, Morgan Shepherd, Phil Parsons, points leader Sam Ard and others would have time up front but for the second race in a row, it would be a surprising driver who would go to victory lane.
Just like he did at South Boston six day earlier, Rick Mast would drive his way up into the lead late in the event and was able to hold off a hard charging Phil Parsons to score his second straight win.
Other Noticeables: Rick Mast scored his 2nd win of the year and second in a row, Mast led 1 time for 54 laps, which were the final 54 laps, It was the 2nd win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since South Boston; 1 race ago, Sam Ard, who finished 14th, kept his points lead, leading Tommy Houston by 204 points
