The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 26th stop of the 1984 season in Concord, North Carolina, the site of the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Miller Time 300.

Waltrip would dominate the day as due to the hot conditions nine of the ten drivers who dropped out was due to mechanical issues. With Waltrip out of contention, Phil Parsons would take over the lead. Right on his tail was Hendrick Motorsports driver Geoffrey Bodine and Bodine would take the lead but Parsons would make a power move with eleven laps to go to retake the lead and would be on defense for the remaining laps. Pearson would trigger the second caution and a few laps later he would pass Ingram to retake the lead. Once in the lead, Pearson would have to deal with a damaged car as well as lap traffic and defend the race lead as he did just that, completely dominating the race by leading all but 46 laps to score his first career win.

Race #28 - Komfort Koach 200
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 28th stop of the 1984 season in Rockingham, North Carolina, the site of the North Carolina Motor Speedway for the Komfort Koach 200.
Geoffrey Bodine led the field to the green flag but it was Bosco Lowe who would lead the first lap around the one mile track. Early in the race championship contenders would be involved in wrecks including leader Sam Ard while up front Lowe would dominate the first one hundred laps before Tommy Houston would take over, his hopes of a title hanging on by a thread as he would swap the lead with Ron Bouchard and Joe Thurman over the last ninety seven laps but it would be a late race caution that would determine who would win.
Joe Thurman would swap the lead with Ron Bouchard before Tommy Houston would take the lead late and appeared on his way to a win, but on his bumper was Bosco Lowe, who hadn't won a race in over a year, as Lowe would drive on by and would go on a score a dominating win by nearly ten seconds.
Meanwhile, crossing the start/finish line in 24th, Sam Ard locked up the 1984 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series Championship with one race remaining, but his celebration would be short lived as it was discovered that during an earlier crash in the day, he had suffered a dislocated shoulder and critical head injuries. Ard would be transported to a local hospital with doctor's saying the injuries would be too severe for him to compete in the season finale at Martinsville and his racing career over.

Race #29 - Cardinal 250
The NASCAR Busch Grand National Series made their 29th and final stop of the 1984 season in Martinsville, Virginia, the site of the Martinsville Speedway for the Cardinal 250.
Morgan Shepherd led the field to the green flag as for the the second and final time in 1984 drivers raced at the half mile at Martinsville while many drivers had other things on their mind. Sam Ard, who had locked up the championship at the previous race at North Carolina Motor Speedway, was still in the hospital after suffering career ending injuries and all thirty two drivers in the race had a special decals on their cars in show of their support for Ard. Shepherd would get a great jump at the start and quickly began to pull away as the short track proved to be a pretty calm race with only three cautions coming out and only two drivers retiring from the race, both due to mechanical issues.
Shepherd would lose the lead during the first round of pit stops to Geoffrey Bodine, who would lead much of the middle of the race, before he too would lose the lead during the last pit stop to L.D. Ottinger, but he too had to make a pit stop, handing the lead back over to Shepherd. Back out in front with fresh tires, Shepherd would be on defense for the remaining laps, as he was able to hold on for his first win in over two years.
Other Noticeables: Morgan Shepherd scored his 1st win of the year, Shepherd led 2 times for 169 laps, including the final 81 laps, It was the 3rd win of his career in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and his first since 1982 at Asheville; 79 races ago, Sam Ard, who wasn't in this race due to injuries suffered one race ago, is the 1984 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series Champion, winning the title by 222 points over Tommy Houston
