Race #18It was a clear day in Syracuse, New York as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 18th stop of the 1957 season at the New York State Fairgrounds. Bob Welborn led the field to the Green Flag but it would be points leader Joe Weatherly who would lead the first laps around the one mile dirt track, but it wouldn't take long before Curtis Turner would work his way up from his tenth starting spot and would climb into the lead by the twelfth lap, showing the power and talent that he had, to the surprise of no one of the small two thousand five hundred people in the stands. Turner would control the first half of the race like he had done for much of 1957, but a caution would fly on Lap 41, as Turner would lose the lead briefly to Possum Jones during pits stops, before regaining it back one lap later. When the green flag waved to allow the drivers to go back racing, Turner remained in the lead for a few laps before surprisingly Turner would be passed by Whitey Norman. Norman would build up a lead while Turner's car would lose it's grip around the track, falling back to third behind Bob Welborn, while Norman would build up a lead of over five seconds and would score a major upset. Other Noticeables: Whitey Norman scored his 1st win of the year, Norman led 1 time for 50 laps, which were the final 50 laps, It was the 1st win of his career in the NASCAR Convertible Series in his 15th start, Ted Chamberlain(13th), Phil McGraw(14th) and Lenny Page(21st) made their NASCAR Convertible Series debuts, Joe Weatherly, who finished 5th, kept his points lead, leading Curtis Turner by 7 points 1.1A-Whitey Norman (50 laps led) 2.49-Bob Welborn 3.26-Curtis Turner (38 laps led) 4.48-Possum Jones (1 lap led) 5.12-Joe Weatherly (11 laps led) 6.21-Glen Wood 7.33-Sonny Walters 8.34-Jimmy Massey 9.76-Larry Frank 10.711-Bill Poor 11.41-Billy Rafter-1 lap 12.400-George Bumgardner-1 lap 13.93-Ted Chamberlain-1 lap 14.14-Phil McGraw-1 lap 15.55-Neil Castles-1 lap 16.78-Shep Langdon-2 laps 17.19-Dick Walters-2 laps 18.9-Dave Terrell-2 laps 19.44-Al Tasnady-2 laps 20.77-Don Gray-2 laps 21.83-Lenny Page-3 laps Bob Welborn-Pole Joe Weatherly-1-11 Curtis Turner-12-41 Possum Jones-42 Curtis Turner-43-50 Whitey Norman-51-100 4 Lead Changes among 4 drivers Caution Flags: 1 for 4 laps Lap 41 (Car #78 Stalled Turn 1) Margin of Victory: 5.146 Seconds Time of Race: 1 Hour, 21 Minutes and 21 Seconds Bob Welborn leads the field to the Green Flag.Joe Weatherly gets a strong run on the outside and passes Welborn in Turn 1, going on to lead the first laps.Curtis Turner passes Joe Weatherly for the lead on Lap 12.The lone caution comes out on Lap 41 when Shep Langdon stalls in Turn 1.Whitey Norman passes Curtis Turner for the 4th and final lead change on Lap 51.Whitey Norman takes the Checkered Flag.

Race #19It was a clear day in Old Bridge, New Jersey as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 19th stop of the 1957 season at the Old Bridge Stadium. Bob Welborn led the field to the Green Flag and would quickly jump out to an early lead around the half mile track and would start lapping driver just after fifty laps, while Welborn's lead had grown to five seconds by that point. With only sixteen drivers at the track, it allowed drivers enough space around the track where no caution would fly during the event, giving drivers only one chance to make pit stops. Welborn would keep his lead during pit stops and would keep his lead past it, but Possum Jones was slowly cutting down the margin thanks to lap traffic and Welborn's car not being as strong as it had been during the first half of the event, but Jones would run out of time, as Welborn would lead every single lap to score his second win of 1957. Other Noticeables: Bob Welborn scored his 2nd win of the year, Welborn led 1 time for 200 laps, which was every single lap, It was the 8th win of his career in the NASCAR Convertible Series and his first since Fayetteville; 16 races ago, Joe Weatherly, who finished 4th, kept his points lead, leading Curtis Turner by 2 points 1.49-Bob Welborn (200 laps led) 2.48-Possum Jones 3.21-Glen Wood 4.12-Joe Weatherly 5.26-Curtis Turner 6.76-Larry Frank 7.711-Bill Poor-1 lap 8.78-Shep Langdon-1 lap 9.34-Jimmy Massey-1 laps 10.9-Dave Terrell-2 laps 11.44-Al Tasnady-2 laps 12.55-Neil Castles-2 laps 13.77-Don Gray-3 laps 14.1A-Whitey Norman-4 laps 15.93-Ted Chamberlain-4 laps 16.41-Billy Rafter-5 laps Bob Welborn-1-200 0 Lead Changes among 1 driver Caution Flags: 0 for 0 laps Margin of Victory: 2.932 Seconds Time of Race: 1 Hour, 8 Minutes and 26 Seconds Bob Welborn leads the field to the Green Flag.Bob Welborn takes the Checkered Flag.

Race #20It was a clear day in Weaverville, North Carolina as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 20th stop of the 1957 season at the Asheville-Weaverville Speedway. Bob Welborn led the field to the Green Flag but it would be Glen Wood who would lead the first laps around the half mile track in front of a crowd of ten thousand fans in attendance as Wood's Wood Brothers entry would show the power that it had with Wood starting to lap drivers by Lap 30, while Welborn remained within two seconds, it was while working through lap traffic that the battle for the lead would end as Wood would be involved in a crash with the slow car of Shep Langdon, a wreck that would knock both drivers out of the race. Welborn was able to pass the destroyed cars and would assume the lead, and when the race went back to green, Welborn would be the car to beat and would be unstoppable at that point, lapping every single driver and easily drove to his third win of 1957.
