The NASCAR Convertible Series made their 31st stop of 1956 at the Columbia Speedway, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Curtis Turner led a field of twenty five drivers to the green as long many other races of the season, Turner quickly pulled away and would lead the first fourteen laps before making an unscheduled pit stop for a flat tire during the second caution handing the lead over to Gwyn Staley. Staley's lead would only last twenty laps before Turner would work his way through lap traffic and reclaimed the lead. Once in the lead, Turner used the remaining four cautions and lap traffic to extend his lead as he would easily go on to score his record breaking fifth win in a row as well as his tenth win of the season.

The NASCAR Convertible Series made their 32nd stop of 1956 at the Hickory Speedway, in Hickory, North Carolina.
Jimmy Massey led a field of twenty four drivers to the green as for the second time in series history drivers raced at the 0.400 mile short track, but unlike the previous event earlier in the season, this visit was on a new pavement and in front of a crowd of five thousand people. Massey's stay up front would last only ten laps before Gwyn Staley would swap the lead with Massey before championship contender Bob Welborn would make his way into the lead. Curtis Turner, who was looking for his sixth win in a row, but starting in the back would make that nearly impossible as he had to work his way up through the field and only cracked the top ten around the halfway mark.
Welborn would dominate much of the day but Jimmie Lewallen, who was driving a car owned by Welborn, would challenge him for the lead allowing for a new challenger to take advantage. Bob Beck, who was making his sixth career start, would take advantage of the dueling drivers and would take the lead late in the race and would go on to score his first career win as well as ending the dominating performance of Curtis Turner.

The NASCAR Convertible Series made their 33rd stop of 1956 at the Charlotte Fairgrounds, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jimmy Massey led the field to the green for the third time in his career and the second in a row, but it would be rookie Billy Carden who would make the pass for the lead in Turn 2 and would go on to lead the first lap. A field of only twenty one drivers drew 7,200 fans in attendance as everyone gave each other room on the half mile track as Carden would lead for much of the early half of the race but he would be involved in a wreck just after making pit stops that would knock new points leader Bob Welborn out of the race.
Art Binkley would assume the lead and he would lead for much of the remaining laps, but Mel Larson would work his way back into the lead shortly before the final caution came out. With the green back out, Larson would be on defense for the final twenty laps and he would hold on for his first career win in NASCAR.

It was a clear day in Flat Rock, Michigan as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 34th stop of the 1956 season at the Flat Rock Speedway.
Bun Emery led the field to the Green Flag as drivers raced for only the second time in series history at the Flat Rock Speedway, but it would be Norman Schihl who would get by Emery in Turn 2 and would go on to lead the first lap. Unlike the previous event at this track, the race was a calm one, with no cautions coming out and drivers giving each other room. Dick Joslin would take the lead for the first time early in the event and he looked to be on his way to his first career win, but championship contender Bob Welborn would move past him with seventy three laps and would be on defense for the remaining laps to score his fifth win of the season, and also gained the points lead back.

It was a clear day in Rochester, New York as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 35th stop of the 1956 season at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
Larry Frank led the field to the Green Flag but it would be Joe Weatherly who would lead the first lap as the 5,300 fans in attendance were given a great show as cautions and battles for the lead happened all day as no one would truly dominate as both Weatherly and points leader Bob Welborn would lead much of the race before Welborn would take the lead for the final time with sixty six laps to go and would hold off a hard charging Gwyn Staley and Weatherly to score his 6th win of the year and second in a row.

It was a clear night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the NASCAR Convertible Series made their 36th stop of the 1956 season at the Heidelberg Raceway.
Joe Weatherly led the field to the Green Flag and would lead the first lap in his Pete DePaolo owned Ford as a early caution would keep the field close before Weatherly decided it was time to go as he began to pull away from all challengers as mechanical problems would knock out five drivers including championship contenders Bob Welborn and Don Oldenberg. Despite two cautions coming out with less then fifty laps to go, Weatherly was able to keep in front for every single lap, and would go on to score his third win of the season by leading every single lap.

Curtis Turner led the field to the green flag as drivers raced for the second time at the Raleigh Speedway in series history as Turner quickly once again showed the power of his Ford owned by Pete DePaolo as he kept all challengers behind him for yet another dominating performance, as he would lead every single lap, and scored his eleventh win of 1956.
